Among the many annoying memes popping up in my social media feeds, some of the most irritating are video clips of humanoid robots performing physical human tasks extremely efficiently: scything fields of grass, thrashing some human at table tennis, or competing with some hulking bloke and winning in that most stupid of all human sports (a competitive field) — slapping contests.
