Data, models and tools for government
As technology increases data availability, it throws up new problems in assessing data quality, methodology and hidden bias. To navigate these challenges for governments, Fathom carefully cross-references and refines data from multiple sources, comparing and adjusting these datasets and using judgement to assess where data are missing. This process results in our gold-standard datasets: with higher accuracy and improved coverage, they serve as a robust foundation for well-informed policy decisions.

Fathom’s comparative US and China Engagement Scores measure where and how the overseas engagement of these global superpowers is changing, and whose influence is greater. Financial crises have severe economic and political consequences, and the capacity to predict them is invaluable to policymakers. Fathom’s Financial Vulnerability Indicator (FVI) combines innovative econometric techniques, the latest academic literature and much data to offer a quarterly assessment of sovereign, currency and banking risk for 176 countries.

Fathom’s Geopolitical Alignment Tracker explores how countries are likely to align in the event of future geopolitical disputes between the US and China.
