We are entering the age of AI. No-one yet knows whether it will transform our lives utterly and forever, rendering human ‘work’ redundant across the board (a possible outcome) or whether it will be an incremental improvement in productivity akin to many previous technological advances. Either way, though, there is a good chance that the era of low productivity growth that has been in place since the Great Financial Crisis might be brought to an end, and not before time….
