2023 was a wild ride for the global economy, in the aftermath of the most seismic economic convulsion in recorded history. The lagged effects of huge shocks to demand, supply and all the main levers of economic policy were still reverberating through the system. Predictions are always hard (especially of the future), but I think it’s fair to say they have been harder than usual for the last few years. Nevertheless, important calls had to be made.
